The 14 Best Employment Lawyers in Paris

Employment disputes in Paris end up before the conseil de prud'hommes, and most avocats in this field pick a side: some act only for employees, others mainly for employers, and a few for both. Executives negotiating an exit, staff contesting a dismissal and small companies managing a departure need quite different help.

This guide lists lawyers whose own websites confirm they practise employment law in Paris. For each one we note who they act for, what they handle, how consultations and fees work and, where the site shows it, whether they work in English.

How this guide is ordered

How to choose Employment Lawyers in Paris

  1. Check which side they act forMany firms act only for employees or mainly for employers. Make sure the lawyer has no link with your employer and regularly handles cases from your side.
  2. Get advice before you signAsk a lawyer to read a rupture conventionnelle or settlement before you sign it. Deadlines are short too: a dismissal can generally be challenged only within 12 months.
  3. Look beyond the severanceFor managers, variable pay, bonuses and equity often matter more than the severance itself. If you hold RSUs or stock options, choose a lawyer who negotiates them regularly.
  4. Agree the fees in writingA written fee agreement is compulsory. Ask about the consultation price, flat fees for tribunal cases and any success fee, and check whether legal protection insurance can help.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an employment lawyer in Paris cost?

It varies by firm and by case. Some lawyers charge a fixed price for a first consultation, some publish flat fees for labour tribunal cases, and many add a success fee calculated on the sums obtained. Legal protection insurance attached to home, card or bank contracts sometimes covers part of the fees.

How long do I have to challenge a dismissal?

In most cases you have 12 months from notification of the dismissal to bring a claim before the conseil de prud'hommes. Claims for unpaid salary have a three-year limit and harassment or discrimination claims five years, but it is safer to get advice early.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Bring your employment contract and any amendments, recent payslips, the name of the collective agreement if you know it, letters about the dispute such as a summons or dismissal letter, and a short timeline backed by emails or messages.
